Active/Plus-Energy Houses: Decentralized Small Power Plants of the Future

HSLU Blog Post: Buildings in Switzerland are developing from electricity consumers into decentralized small power plants in the coming years and thus making an important contribution to the energy transition. Institutional investors, especially pension funds, have already recognized this trend and are actively investing in their own production of sustainable electricity.

This rethinking is urgently necessary, as buildings in Switzerland cause almost half of total energy consumption and around one-third of total CO2 emissions.
Gabriela Theus, Managing Director of Immofonds Asset Management, expresses in a blog post by Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts the conviction that "production and sale of own electricity is a good idea, also in terms of economic efficiency.
