Energy Efficiency Becomes Important Value Driver

Immoday - Even though the CO₂ law was rejected by voters, new political initiatives are likely to follow in order to achieve the set climate goals. Buildings in particular will be affected, as they account for around 45% of Swiss final energy consumption. For this reason, a sustainably positioned real estate portfolio will increasingly come into the focus of investors, writes Gabriela Theus on Immoday.ch.

Immofonds Asset Management AG has therefore developed a sustainability strategy, on the basis of which the building stock is to be decarbonized by 2050 in accordance with the Federal Council's climate strategy. By 2030, CO₂ emissions are to be halved, and from 2045 onwards, the use of fossil heating fuels is to be discontinued. Significant investments in the replacement of fossil heating systems as well as in energy renovations and solar power are to make this possible. The fund management will present the state of implementation in a sustainability report published annually in the future.
